In case I hadn't seen enough markets lately, I decided to go to Portobello Road this morning to see what Saturday wares it had to offer. Luckily, it turned out to be really great. There was lots of vintage, unfortunately still with ridiculous price tags though. But the market itself had a much nicer atmosphere than I found at Camden. The Notting Hill area is very cute and pretty, and the tourist stuff at the market was minimal. Instead, there were heaps of nice food stands, and lots and lots of antiquey stuff, with nice old men selling it (or at least the silver haired gentleman I talked to was very sweet! He said my outfit was a 'symphony in brown', which made me laugh.)After that I walked down through Kensington Gardens to the Victoria and Albert museum, and spent a few hours at the fashion exhibition, as well as visiting the medieval and renaissance sections (I have a real soft spot for that stuff). I have always wanted to go to the Victoria and Albert, I'm not sure why, but it certainly didn't disappoint. Even the building itself is beautiful! And on the outside there is a large section of wall that has big marks in it as it was damaged by a bomb during the Blitz, and they decided not to restore it as a sort of memorial. Things like that are fascinating to me!

Come visit!
The photos of you always look right out of a magazine, love your pose!
You look lovely! I adore that dress, especially the colours :)
That man was absolutely right, your outfit really is stunning! I agree with Solanah, you look straight out of a magazine. I am so envious that you got to spend time at the V&A! It is my favourite place in London...so wonderful. :)
Your outfit is lovely, the cardigan goes so well with your gorgeous dress!
I went to the markets this morning, there is always lots of junk, you have to look really hard to discover something nice.

Glad you're enjoying London. I too adore the V&A, particularly the Renaissance. I find there seems to be a section for every mood.
From a fellow Frances :)
Your outfit is very much a symphony of brown and you look so pretty in that cardigan and dress (great job on making it)! I have a thing for paisley...
Portobello Road sounds great to wake up on a weekend morning and browse around in!
amazing mustards in your outfit
I haven't been to London since 1988, but for the 3 months I was there (on exchange in college) I walked through Portobello market every Saturday. Thanks for the memories!

im so jealous of how you can find hats and scarves that aren't "sets" that still match! it looks like a great market to walk around and enjoy yourself, and I'm fascinated by how in countries other than where I live have the kind of memorials you actually think about and are somewhat understated rather than in your face.
You look gorgeous--I love how wonderfully autumnish it is. :)
